Welcome
Bridie Nelson is an artist from Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa (New Zealand), who works across
multiple mediums to explore ideas of play and memory.
In 2022 she completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Elam School of Fine Art (UOA) and then moved to Melbourne, Australia, where she continued to build her practice. Since relocating to
England in 2025, Bridie's practice continues to respond to her surroundings, integrating symbols,
text, and objects drawn from her own experiences.
Through sculpture and installation, Bridie disrupts spaces by inserting art into everyday action and context, creating works that invite interaction and transform ordinary environments into sites of play. Her installations are often immersive and designed for audiences to move through and
engage with directly, extending her ongoing exploration of play.
Interested in how people personalise and curate their spaces, Bridie’s printmaking and drawing
practices layer objects, words, and abstracted forms. These act as a visual diary of her thoughts
and experiences, further validating ideas around keepsakes and memory.
